If you sweat too much you lose fluid. Thsi decrease in total blood volume. This means your heart to pump even harder to get teh smaller volume of blood to your working muscles, skin and other parts fo your body. Your heart is under much pressure now. When you lose too much fluid, your body temperature rises and your nervous system doesnt always work properly. Extreme fluid loss can sometime lead to heart and brain damages.
A good way to monitor body fluid level is to weigh every morning after you use the bathroom. If you weigh two pounds less than your normal body weight in the morning, the chances are high you are dehydrated and need to drink more water before actualyl doing any big physical activities. You may have lose weight as water and not fat.
Some precautions to be considered to prevent Heat exhaustion:
Dress for the heat, wear light clothes. cotton or newer fabric that repels sweat. Wear hat or sunglasses.
Choose early mornings or late evenings for outdoors
Before getting started apply a water resistant sunscreen with at least SPF 15, reapply every two hours.
Drink adequate water, stay hydrated. drink water every two hours even you do not feel thirsty.
Take regular breaks in between. Hydrate and then start again.
Certain heart conditions like beta blockers, ace receptor blockers, ace inhibitors, cclcium channel blockers and diuretics can exaggerate the bodys response to heat. Always check with your health care professional.
